Naeem Khan's Fall 2013 collection got a rare standing ovation from the New York Fashion Week crowd Tuesday, and with stars like Matt Damon, Brooke Shields and Vanessa Hudgens in the audience, that's no small feat.

Damon, who wore a black, button-down shirt and posed with fans, matched wife Luciana Barroso beside him. Brooke Shields waved and smiled from across the runway.

J. Crew's Fall 2013 collection popped with mixed prints and plenty of color, but the jewels stole the show.

They were everywhere -- placed artfully along the lapels of coats, gracing shirt collars and dressing up daytime looks in the form of statement necklaces and drop earrings. They even adorned a burgundy baseball cap worn with a stunning printed coat, orange drawstring pants and gold pumps.

That was how it went with Betsey Johnson’s show at New York Fashion Week, and when it was finally on again Monday evening at the Lincoln Center tents, Newsday decided to bring in a guest reviewer: none other than 17-year-old Melanie Martinez of Baldwin, a contestant on NBC hit show, “The Voice.” Who better, we thought, than this teeny fashionista who favors '50s frocks...

The Marc by Marc Jacobs line, especially popular with the older teen and 20-something demo, is often chock-full of campus-ready gear and preppy-with-a-twist collegiate looks.  For fall, the pendulum seems to be swinging in the opposite direction, with a line that seems focused on an après school wardrobe. Yikes -- these gals have had to get jobs, so they’re going to need more than that one...

Phillip Lim is known to explore themes in his collections -- like “duality,”  for instance, or a pastime like “kiting.”  But this season the theme seems obscure, something to do with biker chicks, clearly, given all that leather.

Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet was strolling the streets of Paris in September when two glamorous women walked by and inspired her Fall 2013 collection.

"This collection is fantasy street style," Bendet said, dressed in a floor-length red gown with black overlay, matching red roses in her hair. "It's making the ordinary extraordinary."

Supermodel Karlie Kloss somehow managed to open Carolina Herrera’s Monday morning show after appearing at the Grammys the night before. In a blush and cream gown in a geometric pattern with a slim, black tie at the neck, Kloss was flawless, and resembled, more than a little, a 1940s beauty.
