In the showmanship department, Prabal Gurung’s afternoon show at Manhattan’s main post office was, by far, the most dramatic of the week so far. Thirty-eight models filed out from backstage and marched into a rectangular box on the runway that was enclosed with plastic panels. Busy, busy boy that Prabal Gurung. Last Thursday, there was the huge bash for his new line at Target, then on Saturday, his downtown uber-luxe runway show was the hot ticket. On Monday, at the tents, he presented his ICB collection, a contemporarily priced line of savvy city girl clothes that really hit the mark.

In a flight of fancy that was slightly surreal and off-kilter gorgeous, Prabal Gurung’s cocktail-party clothes for Spring 2013 seemed almost (dare we say it?) comfortable.
