The inspiration: A moonlit Moorish Palace, ornate architectural details and “the mystery of romance and yesteryear.”
The vibe: Special occasion dresses across the boards with definite red carpet flair – ladylike, feminine but not overly frothy. A new focus on youthfulness, though there was still stuff for mothers-of-the-bride.

Backstage at Tadashi Shoji, the designer held court preshow dressed in a kooky mix of colors: a periwinkle blue cardigan, a green and white striped button down shirt and …. pale pink pants. Oh how prescient, with a major snowstorm on the horizon, that Tadashi Shoji opened his show at the tents on Thursday with a blizzard of snow projected on the runway.
But Shoji was referencing those tough Russian winters and his muse was Russian royalty in this luxe, elegant show that seemed full of fresh ideas while still conjuring the Russian Empire.

Designer Tadashi Shoji romanced the assembled fashion fray with a frothy and feminine collection of dresses and gowns — and two Chantilly lace short sets — though we're not sure who's wearing these (we might like to). Loads of delicate lace, bright ikat prints and airy chiffon came swirling down this runway.
