Inspiration: According to program notes, Tracy Reese was inspired by “juxtapositions – playing the loud and ecstatic against the pragmatic and quietly complex." Tracy Reese’s fashion show invite included a video clip of Desi Arnaz as Ricky Ricardo playing “Babalu.” And the guys with the maracas and conga drums on the runway, along with the bags of plantain chips on the seats, well, you got a good idea that Reese had something Cuban up her pretty sleeve.

First off, there was a cat (yep, a real one) on the catwalk at Tracy Reese’s show. Lily, a 4-year-old Siamese Blue Point rescue cat, took to the arms of a model wearing a bright floral frock who carried the feline. Gigantic images of Watusi dancers, flowers and leaves interchanged with skyscrapers, oil rigs and highways flashed at the back of Tracy Reese’s runway show at the tents on Sunday afternoon, underscoring her vision for spring: a “mash-up” — her word — of organic fabrics colliding with technical ones. It was all about juxtaposition — soft and structured silhouettes, sporty and feminine garments.
