It’s hard to believe that the Donna Karan’s DKNY line has been around for 25 years -- it seems like only yesterday that the feisty brand was born. For her show on Sunday afternoon, Karan made one thing perfectly clear: Age has done nothing to dampen the spirits of the exuberant brand, which remains as relevant as ever.

Here boy-meets-girl repeatedly: boyfriend jackets, stretched white shirtdresses, baggy jeans and vests, varsity sweaters all with a bit of urban energy. Sculpted neoprene dresses -- one in an electric shade of cobalt -- were both fitted and flared. For a softer touch, Easter egg pastels, layered on -- a lilac blazer, a minty swimsuit and buttery yellow low slung Bermuda shorts -- just a little quirky, but cool. Also in the quirky department … a trench coat skirt (yep, that would be the bottom half of a trenchcoat). Loved it. Karan’s oversized anoraks -- one with a bandanna print -- were practical and covetable.

The show was sprawling (55 looks) with great variety ranging from a little black dress with a sculpted waist to a baggy pair of overalls. The finale featured three “naked” gowns in black, white and red that seemed magically suspended on the models’ body.

And lest we forget, the DKNY logo is recognizable and bold, and it resurfaced here on many pieces.

There was a surprise runway visitor at the end of the show as pop diva Rita Ora strutted her stuff. Afterward, Karan took her finale walk, glowing. Happy birthday to you!
