Ralph Lauren Fall 2014: Here comes a whole new line

The inspiration: It wasn’t so much inspiration as news that fueled Ralph Lauren’s runway show. Make that shows, plural, as in two back-to-back, one of his luxe line (Ralph Lauren Collection), and the other his first-ever Polo diffusion line for women.

The vibe:  Exciting, given that there's a whole new Ralph line and vision to check out. Debuts like that don’t come around very often.

The lust-o-meter: The Polo line, full of fringe-y bits and neon brights, featured some terrific Western pieces, like fringe jackets and bags, and some great jackets (we’ve got dibs on the shearling aviator). But, ohhh, there’s nothing like Ralph’s luxe line to get the heart racing. And on a fearsome day like today, pelting down snow, sleet and slush, it was most appreciated. You should start lining up now for pieces like the pale pink shearling cape or the pearl gray mélange cashmere floor-length halter dress, looking as soft and comfy as sweatpants, and shown with a mauve Mongolian lamb wrap.

Hmmm...: Nothing to question or disagree with here.

Our take: When it comes to Ralph's fall line, shop early, shop often.
