Vogue editor Anna Wintour wasn't so impressed with last year's Tony red carpet -- and she's not one to let such matters go. So Wintour basically hijacked the whole thing, working with many of this year's top nominees to up the fashion ante.

Nominees sparkled on the red carpet Sunday night in major designer names. The evening's host and best actress in a musical nominee Kristin Chenoweth wore sparkly silver Zac Posen. Ruth Wilson was stunning in fuchsia Ralph Lauren; ditto Carey Mulligan in strapless Balenciaga. Best actress in a play winner Helen Mirren (for her performance as Queen Elizabeth in "The Audience") was, well, regal in a Badgley Mischka ivory crepe gown with a hand-painted tulle cape.

And brava to Patina Miller, who wore a simple Jason Wu beaded column and -- take that, Cannes -- pointy flats.
