Benner's Farm is a privately owned,  15-acre family homestead, first farmed in the 1700s. Each year, the farm provides thousands of people a sense of what it was like to live on a small farm in years past. The Benner family are the seventh family to farm this land. They have been farming organically since the late 1970s in their family garden and fields of strawberries, and also raise a variety of farm animals for self-sufficient living. These include chickens, rabbits, hogs and sheep. Thousands of people come to visit and participate in the many workshops, festivals and special events throughout the year.

Pumpkins 60 cents a pound

The farm's pumpkin patch covers about a half acre, but they do regularly bring in pumpkins from the farm's other patches. All pumpkins are grown on this organic, heritage farm.

Admission $7 ($6 14 and younger)

The fee includes access to the pumpkin patch, a 15-minute hayride and one cup of feed for the animals. Additional feed is available for purchase ($1). Don't forget to spend some time enjoying their giant tire swing.

Weekend activities include live music on Sundays. Their annual Haunted Harvest Festival is noon-4 p.m. Oct. 13 and includes an apple cider tasting, vegetables for sale, historic artisan demonstrations and Native American artisans. Each Saturday the farm welcomes a special guest. These will include beekeepers, falconers and naturalists.

The Haunted Halloween hayride (5-9 p.m. Oct. 31, $6) is a scarier version of the regular hayride.  "The hayride is our alternative to trick-or-treating," says co-owner Jean Benner.

Hours: Noon-4 p.m. weekends
