Libraries aren't just for research, studying and homework. These days, libraries host many fun events, including arts and crafts, cooking workshops, games nights, and more. While most events are open to all Long Island residents, others give preference to the residents in their library community. Check out our brief guide of kid-friendly events during the month of September at local libraries. The best part? They're free!

Story Time and More

Families can learn scrapbooking basics, and create a scrapbook page to display. Bring 4-8 photos. Registration begins Sept 6 from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

FRIENDSHIP BRACELET

Make a bracelet with thread or embroidery floss. Registration is required.

Children become chemists as they get a chance to pour, mix, measure different solids and liquids, and watch as they bubble, ooze, or disappear. Registration is required. Preference given to Mineola residents.

THE LITTLEST VOLUNTEER

Children are invited to read and learn about community service and volunteerism, hosted by the Junior League of Long Island. Registration is required.

MAKE A CHILD SMILE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Volunteer program to send a note to a sick child from Make A Child Smile Organization. Registration is required. Preference given to Mineola residents.
