Good buy: Chef Hymie Grande's barbecue sauces
Photo credit: Handout Photo | Chef Hymie Grande's barbecue sauces contain neither high-fructose corn syrup nor processed sugars and are vegan friendly. They also are the first barbecue sauces to bear the American Diabetes Association seal, and a portion of the proceeds is donated to the ADA. The sauces come in three flavors: mildly spiced New Mexico Sweet Basting Sauce, mild-to-medium ancho-and-chipotle-infused Polapote Barbecue Glaze and Cascabel Express Barbecue Glaze. The latter is the hottest of the three, with habanero and cascabel chilis in addition to anchos and chipotles. The 12-ounce bottles are $7 each at Grace's Marketplace in Greenvale and Uncle Giuseppe's in Smithtown.
