A restful retreat makeover in Mount Sinai

Designer Kathy Passarette wanted to create quiet place for herself and her husband, Michael, when she set out to renovate the master bedroom of the Mount Sinai home they share with one of their two college-age children. Here is how she did it for $1,046. -- Sylvia King-Cohen

This is the bedroom Kathy Passarette started with in her makeover. The room had a country decor. The only element that remained in the new room was the pine door trim, which Passarette's husband wanted to keep in a natural state.
