BEFORE. The Gentiles moved into their house about five years ago, and Christine took on the makeover of their master bedroom about one year ago. "We had a lot of furniture in our old house, but none of it seemed to fit in the new house,” she says.
Bedroom makeover with a feminine touch
Christine and Charles Gentile may have been the perfect couple to purchase their home in Centerport. Built in 1895, the three-story house was in major disrepair. Luckily Christine, 49, is designer-owner of Ashbourne, a design, bedding and furniture store in Huntington, and Charles, 50, is contractor-owner of Gentile Building and Home Improvement in Centerport. He was able to do much of the work. The couple added a master suite when they first moved in. And in the last year, Christine redid the bedroom to give it a more feminine look and feel. By combining new with antique, recently purchased with existing, the two now have a bedroom that also is a sanctuary. Total: About $20,000. — BY SYLVIA E. KING-COHEN
