Native plant sale at SCCC, Riverhead

I've been on an announcement roll lately, mostly because it's the time of year when my inbox get flooded with these types of things. I'll be picking my favorites and posting periodically, so if you know of any local gardening events, drop me a line.

Every year the Long Island Native Plant Initiative holds a plant sale in the greenhouse at the Suffolk County Community College's Riverhead campus. This year's event will take place on two consecutive weekends -- June 1 and 2, and June 8 and 9, each day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you're in the market for plants, grasses or shrubs, you'll find great selections in various stages of growth plus get to meet key players in the native plant movement.

For further details, contact the Suffolk County Soil and Water Conservation District by calling 631-727- 2315, extension 3, or by emailing Polly.Weigand@suffolkcountyny.gov
