Want to learn about roses? The members of the Long Island Rose Society are our local experts, and their annual rose show, "A Rose for all Seasons," is Sunday at Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park (1385 Planting Fields Road, Oyster Bay).

You'll be treated to a competition featuring hundreds of blooms grown locally by amateur growers and to be judged according to standards set by the American Rose Society, and displays of hundreds of roses of all kinds from minis to hybrid teas, climbers and old garden roses.

Plus, you'll have the opportunity to pick the brains of consulting rosarians, who also will be on hand to help you select the right ones for your garden. Potted roses, plants and garden items will be available for purchase.

The show runs from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free, but there's a parking charge of  $6  per car. For directions, call 516- 922-9200.
