They might not be on a garden tour or featured in a book, but these Long Islanders know their way around a garden, too.
Karen Leibowitz of Stony Brook said her husband, Scott Drucker, is an amazing gardener. "He makes the house look so beautiful," she said. "Everyone says our yard looks like a resort."
Sharon Nairay's Bellmore garden is "magnificent with just unbelievable visions in shades of pink," her neighbor Florence Gatto tells me. Nairay grows perennials, tender perennials and tropicals in more than 10 separate areas in her garden, and she said her birdfeeders feed more than 100 birds a day.
Judy Gerardo of Lake Grove has a favorite potted gardenia that belonged to her late sister, Lois. "It has never had as many flowers as it now does," she said. "I only hope Lois is looking down and seeing her beautiful plant."
