BEFORE.
This is Heide Banks and Howard Lazar's bedroom. “Their house is one of 30 built as part of the Houses at Sagaponack,” says designer Alexis Petras of the project that started in 2000 as an effort by 34 world-famous designers to build a collection of modern houses in the area. Banks and Lazar’s house, which they bought in 2005, was built by Hariri & Hariri Architecture.
Softening a minimalist bedroom in Sagaponack
It wasn’t quite quid pro quo, but designer Alexis Petras met client Heide Banks when she was switching from a career in fashion to one in interior design. Banks, a well-known author on career transitioning and a relationship guru, helped Petras successfully start a new phase in her life. And, when Banks and her artist-husband, Howard Lazar, wanted to add warmth to their minimalist home in Sagaponack, they turned to Petras, owner of Petras Interiors in Southampton and Manhattan.
Total: $14,050 (Petras' fee included in price of furniture; fee without purchase would be $5,000.)
