Who says dogs can’t strut their stuff on the catwalk?

While many models are taking to the stage to showcase the latest designer fashions during New York Fashion Week, the Guide Dog Foundation is preparing for a fashion show of its own.

The charity organization will host the “Dogs on the Catwalk Fashion Show” on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at Carlyle on the Green at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale. The event will partner with designer Anthony Rubio, who is well-known for creating one-of-a-kind pet couture masterpieces and women’s wear designs.

The event will showcase looks from Rubio’s fall collection, and the pieces will be modeled by his own dogs as well as dogs from the foundation’s guide- and service-dog programs.

Proceeds from the event will go to help continue the efforts of the Guide Dog Foundation, which works to improve the quality of life for people who are blind, have low vision or other special needs.

The event will include a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres hour and dinner. A Guide Dog Foundation program graduate will speak about their experience and companionship with their new guide dog.
