Largest preserve in Nassau County: 550 acres, 10 miles of nature trails, 20 miles of bridle paths (no horse rentals), 2 self-guided trails, 4-mile cross-country ski trail, ponds and woodlands. Monthly guided hikes, geology, bird-watching and nature tours.

Chelsea Mansion, a Norman French-style mansion that was built in 1924 for Alexandra and Benjamin Moore, is located on the grounds. Recent work to the grounds include a rose garden and refurbishment of the home's original topiary garden. Several interior rooms have been refurnished and are now shown during group tours ($15), says director Michael Butkewicz. Elegant touches include interior decor purchased on the newlywed couple's yearlong honeymoon through Europe and Asia.
