Cold weather cramping your freestyle? The dip in temperatures outside doesn't rule out a dive into the heated waters at an indoor pool.

From New Hyde Park to Montauk, swimming facilities are open to the public with the purchase of a day pass. The pools range from Olympic giants to cozy swimming holes at facilities such as municipal recreation centers, hotels and private health spas. Some offer extras such as saunas, steam and spa treatments - even a dash of tropical scenery. With day passes costing as little as $5, you could be swimming circles around cabin fever.

Here are some of the bigger and better-known public pools in our region.
