Blue Canoe Oyster Bar opened in 2012 in the Greenport spot that for decades housed the Chowder Pot Pub. It's one of the prettiest spots in the village, overlooking the harbor and Shelter Island beyond.
The restaurant is owned by Lisa and Terry Harwood, who also own Shelter Island's well-regarded Vine Street Café. Terry Harwood is the executive chef at both restaurants. His menu is casual and contemporary, with both sushi and raw-bar starters, and mains that range from composed salads to burgers and sandwiches to barbecued ribs to miso-glazed salmon. Weekend specials include lobster cioppino and grilled swordfish.
