Osteria Leana in Oyster Bay is getting its legs after opening in mid-March. The new spot from restaurant consultant Peter Van Der Mije — named for his grandmother — has expanded the opening menu of antipasti, pastas, entrees and sides with a longer list of seasonal crowd-pleasers. My favorites were the cucumber gazpacho with marscapone toast and spicy tomato jam, bright green and seasonal ($13), poured tableside. I also recommend the tomato-watermelon panzanella studded with pieces of garlic bread, drizzled in shallot dressing and garnished with basil ($11). Should you decide to go, call ahead for a reservation and ask if the air-conditioning is working. Fearful of Hamptons traffic? You don’t even have to cross the Shinnecock Canal to visit Pizzetteria Brunetti in Westhampton Beach. Besides being one of Long Island’s best pizzerias, Brunetti may well be the smallest, consisting of two counters, 12 stools, and a domed, wood-burning brick oven imported from Naples. The pizza, too, is in the Neapolitan style: thin in the center, puffy around the edges and not overly crisp. This is a crust to savor, not a mere vehicle for toppings. The former home of The Lake House, which moved in May to a nearby space on Great South Bay, this new incarnation is named for owner Frank Mandato’s granddaughters. Chef Fabrizio Perinelli has an especially fine touch with fish and other Mediterranean fare. Your welcome at the door and service at the table is warm and attentive. Weekend brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
