The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

It looks like bye bye to Din Din.

The site in Syosset is no stranger to closings and openings. It has been Tao, Dao, Ao, Hao, and years ago, Empire Szechuan Gourmet, and the original occupant, Homer's Oriental.

For now, the Asian restaurant is shut, with signs on each window announcing "We are closed," followed by "currently under renovation." But there are no indications that any work is under way. Look in and you'll see tables, chairs, booths, the empty lobster tank.

Ironically, the "Grand Opening" banner that signaled Din Din's arrival remains. Call the restaurant, however, and you'll receive a 24/7 busy signal.

Din Din is the latest name for an Asian eatery at 6600 Jericho Tpke., Syosset.
