The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
The offshoot of a downtown Manhattan taqueria, Tacombi at Fonda Nolita, is now turning out tacos and more in downtown Montauk. Its East End name is La Brisa, and it occupies the former digs of La Bodega, a space whose curved outer walls are lined with expansive windows.
Tortillas are made on premises using an imported Mexican tortilla machine. In the morning, youll find such dishes as chilaquiles verdes ($8.95), huevos rancheros ($7.95), and banana pancakes ($7.49). Later on, there are crispy fish tacos made with fresh locally caught tilefish or fluke (market price), chicken tacos ($4.95), vegetarian tacos ($3.95) and a seviche tostada ($5.49).
The restaurant serves Mexican soft drinks and juices as well as wine and mescal, meant to be shared as an aperitif or digestif, plus pina coladas and spiked horchata.
Hours run 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and 7 to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
