You don’t necessarily think of gelato as a Thanksgiving dessert, but it has some distinctive advantages over pumpkin pie: First, no one expects you to make it yourself and, second, it’s a relatively light finale to a belly-busting meal.
Third, Baci Gelato in Williston Park, one of Newsday’s favorite gelaterias, has come up with some seasonally appropriate flavors: pumpkin pie, maple, caramel-apple and cinnamon-pecan. Even more refreshing are two sorbets, cranberry and apple-cider. All are $9 per pint and $17 per quart. Both sorbets and the pumpkin-pie gelato are always on offer; maple, caramel-apple and cinnamon-pecan gelato rotate in and out daily; call the store for availability.
