Rockville Centre, one of Long Island’s restaurant hubs, has filled a new niche. It’s now home to The Smokin’ Rib.
“We live in the area,” said Michael Del Ray, who owns the restaurant with his wife, Aracelis. Barbecue, he added, “was the only thing that was missing.”
Their spot seats 52 diners, who’ll be choosing from main dishes that include smoked chicken, brisket, pulled pork shoulder, St. Louis ribs, cedar-plank salmon and smoked pastrami. They’re in the $12-$28 range.
Sandwiches, from a Cubano to a Reuben, are $10-$12. Appetizers take in fried pickles, chicken wings, and chili; desserts, maple-bourbon pecan pie and Key lime pie. Sides include Gouda macaroni-and-cheese and sweet potato casserole.
The Smokin’ Rib is open every day, from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday; and 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
