Here are a couple of suggestions on food eating and gathering this weekend:

If you find yourself near Stony Brook and you’re a dumpling fan, consider a stop at China Station, the noodle and dumpling restaurant that’s been crowded the couple times we’ve stopped by. Decorated with red lanterns and lucky cats, the bright storefront offers walk-up ordering for takeout as well as seating at tables and a small counter. Eight dumplings come to an order of pan-fried pork and leek dumplings, incredibly savory pockets you’d be reluctant to share ($5.75).

Celebrate Halloween and Mexican Day of the Dead at Blondie’s Bake Shop in Centerport with sugar-skull cookies, equally cute and macabre. They measure about 3 inches, chin to crown, and sell for $13.50 a pound. They’re only one of the many scary treats you’ll find at this excellent bakery.
