The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
BurgerFi, one of the newest burger franchise chains to hit Long Island, just opened its second location in the same Woodbury strip mall as Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza. The original Long Island BurgerFI is in Oceanside. At both places, sustainability figures into both the decor and the food.
Having tried the burgers at the original spot (click here to read about them), I stopped into the newer one for a quick look. This place is much smaller than the one in Oceanside, the narrow quarters — with a few outdoor tables in the parking lot — making for a chaotic scene as people jockey for tables and try to negotiate the ordering line. It is a big family crowd with lots of young children.
On the menu: the BurgerFi burger ($5.57; 510 calories), the VegeFi burger, made with quinoa, lentils, carrots mushrooms and squash ($6.94; 520 calories), a New York-style all-natural hot dog ($3.47; 330 calories), a Wagyu Kobe beef dog ($4.97; 380 calories), a regular order of fries ($2.97, 650 calories) and a coffee mocha shake ($4.47, 910 calories).
The new BurgerFi is at 8063 Jericho Tpke., in the Woodbury Marketplace shopping center, 516-692-2600, burgerfi.com
