Portuguese barbecue is what’s cooking at Churrasqueira Carvalhos, which opened in the Bellmore space that last housed Cafe Symposio.
Here, meat, fish and poultry are grilled over wood charcoal and may be had as part of a rodizio-style all-you-can-eat option ($32.95 at lunch, $35.95 at dinner) featuring skewers of meat sliced to order. There are also such a la carte choices as a whole roast chicken for two ($23.95), grilled prime rib ($25.95) and grilled codfish ($23.95). Accompaniments include a salad and a choice of two side dishes such as French fries, steamed vegetables, rice and house-made potato chips, served family-style.
