The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Art Gustafson who, last year, took over as chef at Chadwick’s at the Station in Rockville Centre, just bought the restaurant. First thing he did was change the name to Chadwick’s American Chop House & Bar. And, Gustafson said, he is embarking on a remodeling process inside and out. Instead of closing the restaurant, though, he will be updating one room at a time. Come the warmer weather, he will also offer outdoor dining.
On the a la carte menu: spicy chicken meatballs ($10), crispy pork belly ($10), a lobster entree salad ($18), gnudi, or house-made ricotta pasta pillows with filetto di pomodoro, basil-ricotta whip and crisp prosciutto ($11 half portion, $19 full portion), pistachio-crusted rack of lamb ($33), cedar planked salmon ($22) and simply grilled Black Angus NY strip steak ($36) with your choice of sauce.
Right now, Gustafson is featuring a host of events and specials. Happy hour runs Monday to Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. with 2-for-1 drink specials and $4 appetizers. Tuesday nights, a 10-ounce burger and a pint of beer go for $18, while Wednesday night, all wines by the bottle are discounted by 50 percent. A three- course tasting menu is offered on Sunday night for $29.
Chadwick’s American Chop House & Bar is at 49 Front St., Rockville Centre, 516-766-7800.
