The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
City Cellar in Westbury now has a new chef, a new menu and — following renovations by the restaurant's new management — an updated look. Changes include improvements to the bar area, private catering room and outdoor patio, as well as a new cocktail lounge.
Chef Jason Damato, who cooked at the Foundation Room in Las Vegas, has added to the menu a roster of sliders — lobster, Kobe beef, meatball and pork belly ($13-$18). He's ditched pizza in favor of flatbreads with such toppings as truffle, eggplant caponata and bacon and egg ($13-$19). There’s also a cheese and charcuterie roster ($7 for one selection, $25 for five), geared toward the restaurant's extensive wine list. Other menu items: pork osso buco ($26), lobster mac and cheese ($28) and, a holdover from earlier, brick chicken ($24).
On Sunday, the place features an a la carte jazz brunch with such items as a hearth baked open face mushroom omelet ($12), braised brisket hash ($15) and chicken and waffles ($16).
A two-course prix-fixe lunch is offered Monday to Saturday, for $14.99, and a three-course sunset dinner, at $24.99, runs daily from 4 to 6:30 p.m..
