The third annual chili cook-off, with proceeds going to the League for Animal Protection in Huntington, is slated for Sunday, March 29, at The Lark Pub & Grub in East Northport. There's a $10 donation at the door.
Lark owner Tim Kelly says that three tents will be set up for visitors. He expects about 400 to attend. At least 30 preparations of chili in different varieties will be available for sampling. The 40 contestants are mostly local, Kelly said, from Northport, Commack and nearby communities. Prizes will be awarded for the top three, plus another for the fans' favorite. Raffles also will be held.
The festivities are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. And, as Kelly says, "Beers will be readily available."
