CoolFish in Syosset just got a menu makeover, thanks to chef Steven Del Lima, who is currently consulting for and cooking at the restaurant. CoolFish had received much acclaim under its previous owner, Tom Schaudel, who sold it last year to the Singh Hospitality Group.
“CoolFish needed to be refreshed,” Del Lima said, adding that he envisions it as “an exclusive seafood restaurant.” Accordingly, the new spring/summer menu, launched Wednesday, has such items as a “grand luxe chilled seafood platter” ($65 for two, $120 for four, $170 for six), a jumbo lump Maryland blue crabcake ($16), pan roasted Florida Keys black grouper ($28), crispy whole red snapper ($37). You can also get steak frites ($35).
Del Lima is also executive chef at Chow Down Diner in Bethpage, where his cooking garnered a two-and-a-half star review earlier this year. The diner has a new kitchen manager who, Del Lima says, is overseeing the cooking when he is not there.
