The last round of eight-ball has ended and the last burger served at Cue Nine in Levittown, a loungey billiard hall/restaurant that debuted in 2010.

“Not your daddy’s smoke filled pool hall,” wrote Newsday’s Joan Reminick at the time, citing wood smoke that brought forth memorable brisket and ribs.

Marc Anthony Bynum, named a Newsday All-Star Chef, had been the chef consultant for the menu; this was before he opened Hush Bistro in Farmingdale in 2014. He paired up then with Tony Kang, who was the chef de cuisine, a position Kang now holds at True North in Huntington.

In 2010, Cue Nine was an overhaul of what had been Leisure Time Billards, owned by John Brendle, who updated the tables, the concept and the menu. Throughout his ownership, he was also a managing partner with Equus Group LLC based in Garden City. He was not available for comment regarding the closing.
