Besito restaurants in Huntington and Roslyn are livening up the Day of the Dead.

The Day of the Dead, or Dia de Muertos, is a holiday in Mexico devoted to remembering deceased friends and family, traditionally with their favorite foods and other items left at graveside.

Besito is celebrating the holiday with specials at lunch and dinner on Nov. 1 and 2.

The dinner special is a combination plate of jumbo shrimp, grilled strip steak, mashed sweet plantains, salsa ranchera, and cilantro. It's $28. The lunch special is a shrimp quesadilla, with sauteed shrimp, pickled jalapeno peppers, queso fresco, and guacamole, with a flour tortilla.

Expect to find staff members with faces painted for the festivities. Keepsake cards about the history of the holiday will be given, too. And a tequila drink from Patron will be a treat, too, along with Mexican chocolates.

Besito will be open for lunch and dinner from noon until 11 p.m.
