The sound of the rolling dim sum cart is rare on Long Island. But you'll hear it on weekends at the new Orient Odyssey in Jericho.
Orient Odyssey is the offspring of the very popular The Orient in Bethpage. Both are owned by Tommy Tan, who has been overseeing the early days of the sleek Jericho spot.
Orient Odyssey offers dim sum every day from 11:30 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. But on Saturday and Sunday, you may make your choices as the steaming carts wheel by instead of from the menu.
Dim sum is a tribute to dumplings, buns, and many small plates. Just keep choosing till you're full. Most are $2.50, $3.25, or $4.25.
This weekend, excellent choices included shrimp with noodles, baked roast pork turnovers, crystal shrimp dumplings, fried taro, spring rolls, and pork tripe seasoned with ginger.
