The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Doppio Artisan Bistro, which earned a two-star rating in Newsday in 2013, has closed. The Huntington restaurant's exit apparently stemmed from a lease dispute.
Doppio's downtown Huntington neighbor, Char Grille, also has closed.
Doppio was the offspring of a like-named restaurant in Greenwich, Connecticut. It was praised for casual Italian-inspired fare, including individual pizzas, panini, salads, pastas and main dishes such as chicken scarpariello, grilled branzino, and grilled steak. The Connecticut restaurant remains open, as does a branch in Sag Harbor.
Char Grille was a modest spot with primarily American dishes, including steaks and burgers.
Doppio was at 24 Clinton Ave., Char Grill at 26 Clinton Ave.
