Father’s Day is sneaking up on us. Rather than casting about for last-minute plans and reservations, you might do well to plan well before Sunday.
Here, then, are six restaurants, each with something dad-pleasing on the agenda.
PRIME CATCH in Rockville Centre has a brunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at $23.95 a person. Included are unlimited mimosas and Bloody Marys, plus an omelet station, pancakes, eggs, oatmeal, fruit, Danish and muffins. At dinner, it offers specials such as grilled spicy Mexican chorizo with salad ($9.95) and grilled skirt steak topped with fried coconut jumbo shrimp ($32.95).
THOM THOM STEAK & SEAFOOD in Wantagh will have a brunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. At $27.95 a person, it features an omelet station, sushi bar and such dishes as roasted Black Angus rib eye and teriyaki salmon. Desserts, too. Beer or wine is complimentary for dads.
CANTERBURY'S OYSTER BAR & GRILL in Oyster Bay is featuring free appetizers (from a list of about seven) for dads. The restaurant will also have such hearty specials as lobster risotto topped with braised short rib ($28), venison with wild game sausage ($30) and a clambake with a 1¼ pound lobster, steamers, mussels, corn on the cob, steamed new potatoes and slaw plus a salad ($29).
PORTO VIVO in Huntington will offer both its regular menu and a $29 Sunday special, available 2:30 to 9 p.m., with either a two-pound lobster or 14-ounce rib eye (with soup or salad plus starch and vegetable).
THAT MEETBALL PLACE in Patchogue is serving a Father’s Day brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with such choices as a chicken and waffle ball ($9), a skillet frittata — eggs baked with your choice of two ingredients from a list that includes artichoke hearts, caramelized onions, kalamata olives and bacon. A meat, vegetable or seafood ball with sauce for an additional $2.50.
PERFECTO MUNDO in Commack is offering a $35 Latin-style three-course prix-fixe menu from 1 p.m., with live music starting at 4 p.m. Choices include flash-fried ancho chili-glazed calamari to start and, as an entree, a cast iron-seared ahi tuna tostada. Dessert included.
