The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Beachgoers craving a rotisserie chicken dinner or a warm El Puerquito "chimi" (pork sandwich) from Chévere Modern Latin Kitchen in Freeport can have their order delivered to Jones Beach. And those in need of a pulled pork sandwich or rack of ribs from Swingbellys Beachside BBQ can get delivery on the beach at Long Beach or at any of the beach clubs in Lido Beach and Atlantic Beach.
In the case of Chévere, ordering is done online. Either visit the restaurant's website, chevere77.com, and click on the link to Grub Hub, or order directly through Grub Hub. Your food will be delivered to Field Four, either the East or West Bath House or the Rotunda. When ordering, give detailed instructions on where you will be and how to find you. There's a $15 minimum plus a $5 delivery charge. Since you pay online, no cash need be exchanged.
If you want delivery from Swingbellys, contact the restaurant by phone and provide specific instructions about your exact location as well as your cell number. Co-owner Dan Monteforte said that the delivery person will even walk onto the beach to find a certain umbrella. Most of the time, though, delivery is made on the boardwalk. Payment is by cash or credit card. There is no surcharge for delivery.LI's 100 best restaurantsSee alsoLI's ultimate beach guide
