It’s the firefighters who will be fanning the flames as members of six Nassau County fire battalions compete at the second annual Best Firehouse Burger competition. The battle will be held on Wednesday, June 30,  at noon at the Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center in Garden City.

Last year’s winner, the Bethpage Fire Department, will be grilling against Franklin Square-Munson, Mineola, Rockville Centre, Syosset (last year’s runner-up) and Wantagh. Teams will be judged on a signature burger and a grilled vegetable side dish. The panel of judges includes Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano, Nassau County Firefighters Museum president Angelo Catalano, All-American Burger manager Bill Vultaggio, Anton Newspaper publisher Angela Anton and Stop & Shop district manager Bob Hempson. Stop & Shop is providing all provisions and will be awarding a $200 gift certificate to the winning battalion.
