The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

When the owner of Uncle Bacala's, Peter Hewitson, read the post about Tutto Pazzo’s snow-day discount, he was moved to inform us about his own. This is the third year of Uncle Bacala’s snow-discount program (Tutto Pazzo’s has been going on for 16 years) and the deal is as follows: If snow accumulation tops 6 inches, you get 25 percent off your food bill; more than 12 inches, the discount is 50 percent. This cannot be combined with any other offer (e.g. a fixed-price menu) and must be paid in cash.

Hewitson told me, “I saw there were 15 inches in Mineola, so we’re doing 50 percent off tonight.”
