For unusual seasonal brews on tap through Thanksgiving, Garvies Point Craft Brewery in Glen Cove has been serving Pratt House Pumpkin Ale (5.5 percent ABV) and a Pumpkin Picker Saison with a bit more alcohol that, with allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg, “tastes like a pumpkin pie,” said Mark Scoroposki, business partner and co-brewer with Ben Kossoff.

The two opened the tasting room earlier this fall and have been brewing since last year. Their facility sits near Garvies Point development and across the street from the ferry terminal, with service to Manhattan slated for the future.

The brewery has made 12 beers to date and is on track to brew over 20 in the first year, said Scoroposki. They’re brewing about 1,000 gallons of beer a month, with the whole process taking about 28 days, Scoroposki said. In the rotation, beer geeks will find Hop Aboard Double Rice IPA with hops from New Zealand, the Pacific Northwest, the Prybil Pale Ale, Port Service Porter and Sour Batch among others. Growlers cost between $18 and about $25 for 32- and 64-ounce growlers.

The tasting room features 30-foot ceilings and a garage door facade that makes for an open air space, weather permitting. At the moment, tasting room hours are Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 1 to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. when customers can sample one of six brews on tap on a bar stool with a view of the brewhouse kettles.

Half-barrels and 1/6 kegs are available by calling ahead. Brews are also periodically available at places such as Black Sheep Ale House in Mineola and Pub 1910 at the Glen Cove Mansion in Glen Cove.
