If you’re looking for a restaurant recommendation for the weekend, we’ve got a couple of good places for you:

From restaurant critic Melissa McCart

I’ve been dreaming of the dishes at Gingerbites since I visited Marie Michele Destil’s little Haitian restaurant a few months ago. If you haven’t been, try the griot — fried cubes of pork — served with fried plantains, rice and beans and pikliz, a pickled relish of super finely diced onion, cabbage, carrots and Scotch bonnets that falls among my new favorite condiments. Gingerbites now serves beer and wine.

From food reporter Erica Marcus

A quick detour off the Meadowbrook Parkway, Left Coast Kitchen & Cocktails is an exuberant gastropub with a generous hand and a sense of fun: Jolly Green Giant ravioli are stuffed with spinach and cheese, topped with pesto and green vegetables, charred radicchio and ricotta salata; the Porky McPub Platter features braised pork belly, braised slab bacon, smoked pork sausage and root-beer glaze. On weekends, breakfast is served from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the wacky pancakes contain everything from trail mix to Oreos to pumpkin.
