The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

The Greenporter Hotel will hold a theme dinner next week celebrating Brazilian rain-forest fare -- sort of green meets green.

Greenporter chef Deborah R. Pittorino, who has traveled in Brazil, is putting together the festivities in connection with Leblon, a producer of cachaca. Cachaca is a high-octane spirit made with sugarcane. It's similar to rum. A cocktail class, with a discussion about cachaca, also will he held. Cachaca is known best as the main ingredient in the popular Brazilian cocktail, the caipirinha.
