Whose grilling reigns supreme? Eight Long Island chefs will take on their brethren across the East River this Friday (July 12) in a Bridgehampton grill-off hosted by Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian.
Grilling for Long Island will be Bryan Futerman of Foody's, Billy Oliva of Delmonicos of Southampton, Emanouil Aslanoglou of Old Stove Pub, Colin Ambrose of Estias Little Kitchen, Peter Ambrose of Hampton Seafood Company, David Hersh of Cowfish/Rumba, Victor Tapia of The Palm and the Greenport Team: Keith Luce of The Square and Robby Beaver of Frisky Oyster.
Manhattan is fielding Harold Moore of Commerce, Joey Campanaro of The Little Owl, Chris Santos of Stanton Social, Paul Denamiel of Le Rivage, Nils Noren of Red Rooster, Elizabeth Karmel of Hill Country BBQ & Chicken, Cliff Crooks of BLT Steak and Elizabeth Falkner of Corvo Bianco.
Judges include Dan Rattiner, founder-editor of Dans Papers (the events main sponsor), Food & Wine editor Kate Krader, restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow and Iron Chef America judge Karine Bakhoum.
Admission to GrillHampton is $115 and that entitles you to copious samples from all 16 chefs. In addition to the official entries burgers, steaks, tacos there will be traditional BBQ side dishes as well. Drinks include beer from sponsor Blue Moon, plus libations from Titos Vodka, Miami Cocktail Co., Glenfiddich, and Sailor Jerry rum.
