New to Jericho is Gyrolicious, an offshoot of a 4-year-old East Meadow Greek restaurant.
According to co-owner Carie Volonakis, everything is made in-house -- and that includes two kinds of gyro, one done with white and dark meat chicken, the other with beef and lamb. The meat is marinated, stacked and rotisserie roasted before being sliced to order.
Many of the dishes at the new place are made from Volonakis grandmothers traditional Greek recipes, which are filtered through a modern sensibility. The menu, Volonakis added, is still expanding and will shortly include fish.
Right now, there's grilled octopus ($9.95), a sampler platter of dips ($7.95), a chicken gyro sandwich ($6.95), a beef and lamb gyro platter ($9.95 lunch, $12.95 dinner) and pork souvlaki ($9.95 lunch, $12.95 dinner).
Volonakis said Gyrolicious is currently awaiting a beer and wine license.
