The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Update: The Village of Sea Cliff has scheduled a hearing on June 16 for a special-use permit to allow caterer Artaux Fine Foods to operate a restaurant on the premises.
Artaux is serving food now, but only if you're a customer interested in the company's catering. Visitors to the site will find no chairs in what's expected to be the primary dining room. There's an 8-to-10-seat communal table with chairs in the kitchen, where prospective customers may be seated and order from a menu.
Artaux owner-chef James Muir said "We have an application in." The site currently is zoned for a retail store. Artaux also will need Nassau County to approve the parking facilities for the restaurant.
If you do go and state your interest in catering, you may sample dishes such as pressed hake with Serrano ham, English pea puree, and flageolet beans; mini-burgers on brioche rolls; and chocolate mousse with caramelized bananas.
