Attention home brewers: A new store in Baldwin is ready to meet all your beer-making needs. Homebrews & Handgrenades sells everything from beer-making kits for the novice to artisanal ingredients for the veteran brewer.

Owner Peter Tripp is a former structural iron worker who had been brewing beer at home for five years before opening Homebrews & Handgrenades in September. He wants his shop to become a meeting place for South Nassau enthusiasts and, to that end, he has instituted monthly “bottle swaps.” “Everyone shows up with their home brews,” he explained, “and the group tastes, discusses and swaps.” Tripp suggested that folks bring six bottles with them.
