The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
The Olde Pub Bar & Grill, situated near the Bellmore LIRR stop, has left the station. The attractive Irish-American pub, which opened in late 2013 and served a fine shepherd's pie, was preceded by Lincoln Station and Clearwater Charlies, neither of which lasted very long.
Moving into the Olde Pub's former digs is The 3rd Rail, aiming to electrify its clientele with such dishes as “derailed” wings ($10.95), “rail burger” topped with short ribs ($14.99) and “Grand Central” strip steak ($23.99). Co-owner/chef Joe Reale, who also owns Popei’s in Bethpage, said he offers the same mussels, oysters and clams ($11.99 to $14.99) at both restaurants.
The 3rd Rail is at 216 Pettit Ave., Bellmore, 516-590-7220.
