Spezia in St. James, cited as one of the top 10 restaurant openings of 2013 in Newsday, has closed.
The shutdown was announced in an email to diners, expressing "deep gratitude for your loyal patronage."
Spezia was a destination for spirited Italian and Italian-American favorites. The kitchen was known for its lobster-dinner specials, especially lobster fra diavolo; and dishes including meat-filled lasagna, eggplant rollatine. stuffed double-cut pork chops, rice balls and tiramisu.
The restaurant was at 645 Middle Country Rd. in St. James.
