Orto, the country Italian restaurant in Miller Place, will be uncorking Nino Negri wines at a tasting dinner on Nov. 21.
The cost per person is $76, plus tax and gratuity.
He plans to prepare house-smoked brook trout with celery-and-fennel salad; calamari risotto with red wine sauce; fingerling potato salad with crisp farm egg, Taleggio truffle fonduta and fresh truffles; buckwheat polenta with roasted chicken ragu; and braised veal wrapped in speck, with roasted bone marrow and saffron-potato puree.There also will be dessert.
Sara Maule, daughter of Nino Negri's winemaker, will be at the dinner to discuss the northern Italian wines.
Nino Negri is situated in Chiura, in the Valtellina region close to the Alpine, Italian-Swiss border. Among the wines to be poured are the excellent 2009 Nino Negri Sfursat Della Valtellina, 2008 "Le Tense" Sasella Valtellina Superiore, 2009 Inferno Valtellina Superiore, 2009 Quadrio Valtellina Superiore and the 2011 Ca'Brione Terrazze Retiche di Sondrio.
